Days til Spring Training
We’re just 1 week away from spring training, and with all the snow we’ve been getting in the North East it can’t come soon enough.

Just release the complete list already
Today the New York Times reported that Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz where among the over 100 players who tested positive in the 2003 “anonymous” testing.
I’m all for keeping the list private, it was supposed to an anonymous test and the players only agreed to the test because it was. To release the names now is wrong. The problem is that the names are being released, and as we continue to see these names released every few months I’d rather just see them all now and be done with it.

Taking top spot
After completing a 3 game sweep of the Orioles, and 3 game sweep of the Red Sox by the Texas Rangers, the Yankees have jumped out to a 2 game lead in the AL east.
A quick turn around from the 3 game deficit they took into the All Star break. Top quality starting pitching is largely responsible for the Yankees turn around, timely hitting hasn’t hurt either.
The Red Sox made some moves on Wednesday, that brought Adam LaRoche and Chris Duncan to the club, while no team has jumped on the available Roy Halladay, who’s price might be just too high.
The Yankees traded for Eric Hinske last month, but with Wang making little progress in his recovery from a shoulder strain, adding a little extra insurance to the rotation may be a good idea.

Second half
The Yankees start the second half of the season with the Tigers visiting tonight, which seems like a good time to look back at the first half of the season.
Overall the Yankees aren’t in bad shape. Only 3 games behind Boston in the AL East, and leading the wild card chase by 2.5 games from the Rangers. With the early season problems in the pitching staff and missing Alex Rodriguez for 28 games, I’ll take that.
