    Braves vs. Mets

Chipper Jones has been the face of the Braves franchise for many years. He was a member of those teams in the late nineties that won division championship after division championship. In Wednesday’s game against the Mets, he proved again why he is the big kahuna of the Braves organization.

In the first game back from the All Star break, both team’s starter pitching fared well Wednesday night. Derek Lowe was on the mound for the Braves and gave up just 3 runs off 5 hits in six innings of work. On the other side, New York Mets starting pitcher Oliver Perez gave up the same numbers: 3 runs off of 5 hits in six innings.

After going down 2-0 in the second innings, the Mets came roaring back in the fourth. Led by star players David Wright, Gary Sheffield and David Wright, the Mets scored 3 in the fourth to take a one run lead.

The Braves quickly responded in the bottom of the night, tying the game at 3 runs. They waited until the 7th inning to take the lead. With a runner in scoring position, Chipper Jones singled to score the go-ahead run. The Braves would add another in the 8th following Jones’ clutch RBI single.
The Braves bullpen was solid, holding the Mets to no runs in 3 innings.

Back Off Track: Braves 5, Mets 3

The bad news is that the Mets lost again and Oliver Perez walked four batters in six innings. More bad news includes Perez allowing homeruns to Yunel Escobar and Garrett Anderson, who hadn’t hit a homerun off of a lefty all season.
